Mitzvah Day, a program of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa, is an opportunity for the members of the Ottawa Jewish community to come together to volunteer their time and energy in the spirit of Tikkun Olam (“repairing the world”). Mitzvah Day is our chance to give back, one good deed at a time.
Mitzvah Day Schedule
9:00 am - Bagel Breakfast and opening ceremonies in the Soloway Jewish Community Centre (SJCC) Social
Hall, 21 Nadolny Sachs Private
9:30 am - Those participants going to Bellevue Manor Community Centre or the Ottawa Food Bank depart (busing is available)
9:45-10:30 am - Onsite Mitzvah Session #1
10:45-11:30 am - Onsite Mitzvah Session #2
11:45 am - Buses from Bellevue Manor and Ottawa Food Bank return to the SJCC
At 12:00 pm, everyone is invited to participate in an anti-bullying workshop in the Social Hall!
Finish your Mitzvah early?
- Drop into the SJCC gym for a bunch of activities (make sure to bring some change with you!)
- Join us in the SJCC Classroom 5 (upstairs) to help make sandwiches for the needy
- Write cards to Canadian and Israeli soldiers in the Activity Gallery
